I wonder if I should do my idea soon...
I guess you can say I had an idea to start an online magazine and yes, a lot of work is involved, but I seriously want to create an online mag that is so different than the normal ones you get out there... way different.
My idea might have been used already, then I would not know since there are thousand's of magazines across the world, but I am sure as far as South Africa goes and some other ones I have seen it and hasn't been done yet. So perhaps I will just do it.
It would be a free project with emphasis on establishing a name for the magazine and hopefully gain a good readership base. From there the magazine's team will decide in which direction to expand in.
So many ideas and not enough interest from people. Maybe I am the only one that can see the potential in creating something and making a name for oneself. Oh, well...perhaps I will do it on my own.

Well let me first start with the juicy bits of my creation, before I get to the really good part.
I am known as Lycanine and yes, its a pretty unique name with only 1 or 2 other people in existence on the net that has the same username as mine, by accident. Although one is inactive I believe and the other is a character in a story. Anyone that does a search on the internet will find a few pages of search listings and undoubtedly almost 98% of those listings belong to me.
A roleplayer and writer, and an avid gamer at heart, there are many things that take my interest among all that I have listed as my interests on LJ.

My baby project that I started along with my partner and slowly but surely walked down the road of my first MMOG project. It is here where I start my rise to the top, ultimately oneday achieving my goals to run a company that creates games.
Well I guess everybody has to start somewhere I guess. ^_~
But since that is a major endeavour, for now my only interests is in growing my game and doing a few smaller projects under the parent company of Osirius, which hopefully once I have a few notable projects going, I would be able to design the site. Since right now it would be kinda bare ;-;
Alright, now on to the better part as I promised.
As the title says... Competition!
Well, no doubt there are some creative souls out there who would only love to create something and hopefully gain a bit of recognition in return and in doing so, you will have something to show other prospective employers.
My game is a free massive online game and anyone can join it without needing to download any huge files since its browser based. Or text based as some would say.
Well I am hosting a short competition.
I wonder if you have ever heard of the term ebook before?
Well if you have then skip the next paragraph, but if you haven't, then please read on...

An ebook cover of something I designed over six months ago...
Usually ebooks are either pdf format, which I am sure people should be familiar with since most games and software have guides in pdf format, or it can be in .exe format. But since .exe ebooks can't be viewed on Mac computers, the pdf is the more popular one.

Now I will be using pdf ebooks in my game's forum. I have the software that I bought to create wonderful pdf's for myself. But I need to fill it with content. Yes, some interesting content that gamers from my game will be required to download and read.
So now you wonder what the competition is about right?
Well I am running two competitions.
One for writers, and a second one for graphics designers.

WRITERS COMPETITION
-------------------
Calling all writers whose interests lie in Fantasy or in Medieval genre's.
I am looking for a few original short stories that will be featured in these pdf's for download.
There is only one prize based on the best story, and the rest will be featured as well in the other pdf's, but won't receive compensation. Unfortunately I do not work and therefore can't offer each writer adequate compensation, however I am willing to offer a prize for the best story.
$10 deposited directly into your paypal account. So please note that interested writers must have a paypal account or have access to one to receive the payment if they are selected as the overall winner.
For the submissions that do not win, you will receive a featured spot in one of the ebooks for download (6 ebooks in total), and will have the opportunity to provide your personal information and website info at the end of the story. So in effect you get free advertising to whichever site you choose.
These are the rules:
1) Must be original.
2) For more of an idea what the game is all about, please visit www.kingdomofshadows.co.uk and read the intro or click on the forum link to see the different areas on the forum. Note* Still in progress.
3) Be fantasy orientated with medieval influences.
4) Involve a variety of characters or atleast 2 at the minimum. Races for inclusion are (as taken from the game):
* Rez'Khan -> lower elves
* Elindar -> Higher order elves
* Spirit Wolves -> Shamanistic mortals with little magic, yet effective hunters, spearsmen.
* Hell Hound Riders -> Fierce warriors that usually have Hell Hounds as pets and their trusted companions who carry them into battle.
* Dragon Lords -> Knights fitted and equipped with the best armor and weapons, usually riding atop Dragons in battle.
* Khul'Taar -> Fierce warriors... almost similar like well trained soldiers, except imagine something like Klingon's from Star Wars almost if I think of anything to compare them to.
* Elementals -> Creatures of nature that use elemental powers.
* Humans -> you're average everyday mortal.
* Draconians -> Half human/half dragon slave masters that raid neighbouring kingdoms and capture workers.
* Garr -> Ancient gargoyle race with very destructive powers
* Ursyr -> An ancient force that usually consists out of demons of unmeasurable power.
* Malisars -> lizard-like with defined human likeness. Usually repel land attacks with metal tipped pikes.
Note* The stories can be about anything and taken from any angle, as long as it in some way reflects the races or the story of Kingdom Of Shadows.

GRAPHIC DESIGN COMPETITION

I am in need of some banners and artwork for the stories. This will be an excellent opportunity to showcase your work and let other people see where your capabilities lie. You can also use it as a reference for prospective employers.
As with the writers competition, I can only offer $10 deposited directly into your paypal account, if you are chosen as the overall winner for this category. However the rest will receive the opportunity to have their artwork featured in one of the six ebooks that will be available for download.
The only difference here is, I am offering a game as a second prize and will be shipped to your address at no cost to you if you are chosen as the second winner.
Warlords Battlecry II (PC game)
Rules:
1) Banners must be no larger than 650 (width) x 200 (height) pixels.
2) Full sized pictures must not be larger than 600 x 600 pixels. (However the banner and picture can be any size the designer deems worthy as long as it doesn't exceed the dimensions given.
3) I am not interested in animated gif pictures. Must be reasonably good quality jpg's.
4) I am looking for original work, however not everyone are artists, so in light of that I will accept pictures and banners that has been altered drastically thus making it their own creation essentially.

If you look at how they do banners/signatures, you will see what I mean. It can be abstract or realistic or even taken from other games, movies etc...the only thing I want is that it needs to be altered in such a way that it fits the game and portray kingdom of shadows.

3) An Avatar picture of yourself. Preferably fantasy orientated and 100 x 100. If you do not have an avatar then I will use one at my discretion.
4) Any copyright information should be included as well. I do not claim copyright to it and thus it will remain in your possession. Welcome to my Dark Realm where everything is possible and everything is permitted.
For those that want to join this community, I urge you to look at what interests I have listed and unless your interests fall under similar categories, then I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. This community is for the artists, writers, gamers and designers who have crossed the boundaries of what is perceived as normal and entered a new realm where everything is only limited by their imagination.
So I guess I will introduce myself and start this journey.
Note* Do not be surprised if you find your views sometimes clash with mine or others, as its expected. We are all unique and different. So please keep it civil and start to explore the possibilities of this universe.
